Syrian President Ahmed Şara has signed the declaration that sets out the basic provisions of the temporary constitution in Syria. The Syrian Jurists Committee has disclosed the articles of the declaration.
President Ahmed Şara has put his signature on the declaration that defines the fundamental provisions of the temporary constitution.
The committee, consisting of Syrian jurists, political scientists, academics, and journalists, completed their work and presented the temporary constitution declaration to Şara. In a ceremony held at the People’s Palace in Damascus, members of the committee for preparing the temporary constitution were joined by members of the National Dialogue Conference, the President of the Syrian Scholars Union Üsame Rıfai, and the Syrian Foreign Minister Esad Hasan Şeybani. Şara, after receiving and signing the temporary constitution declaration, expressed his gratitude to the committee. The Syrian Jurists Committee included the following articles in the constitution draft: “Islamic law will continue to be the basis of law, the Syrian President will remain a practicing Muslim, Syria is bound by international human rights treaties it has signed, Syria is fully committed to the separation of powers, and Syria is determined about the independence of the judiciary.”
