2 Mins Read

During an interview with Russian state television, Foreign Minister Lavrov emphasized the need for clear guarantees regarding the security of navigation for ships in the Black Sea. He stated that there is a necessity for renewed acceptance of the Black Sea initiative in a more agreeable manner by everyone. Lavrov discussed the recent negotiations between Russian and American experts in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the importance of addressing the safety of navigation for ships in the Black Sea. He stressed the need to eliminate uncertainties in this regard and expressed support for a more acceptable restart of the Black Sea initiative. Lavrov’s position underlined a desire for predictability in the grain and fertilizer market, while rejecting any attempts to exclude Russia from this market. Lavrov pointed out the suffering of Africa and other regions due to Western schemes related to food, highlighting the importance of clear guarantees. He mentioned the challenges of agreements with Kyiv, indicating that only Washington’s command to Zelenskiy and his team can ensure these guarantees. Lavrov believes that Washington has received signals in this regard and expressed hope for positive outcomes in halting terrorist attacks against civilian and energy infrastructures unrelated to the military-industrial complex. Lavrov also noted Erdogan’s efforts to revive the Black Sea Grain Corridor Agreement and discord with Zelenskiy over nuclear infrastructure attacks. Additionally, Lavrov criticized Europe’s approach to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, comparing it to Napoleon Bonaparte and Adolf Hitler’s strategies aimed at blocking Russia. Lavrov accused Europe of mobilizing against Russia, with support for Ukraine through weapon shipments and the deployment of peace forces, especially with London and Paris’s backing. He described French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer as “idealistic and incompetent” politicians, stating that Europeans oppose Trump’s approach to the Ukrainian issue.
