In the upcoming book “War” by American journalist Bob Woodward set to be released next week, striking claims regarding former US president Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are made. Here are the four major claims about world leaders from Woodward’s new book…Woodward, an editor at the American newspaper Washington Post (WP), alleges in his book that in 2020, then-US President Trump secretly sent American-made Covid tests to Putin.
According to the claims in the book, Putin was very afraid of contracting the deadly virus.
He accepted the tests but warned Trump not to share any information about the incident.
According to Woodward, Putin told Trump, “Please do not tell anyone that you sent these to me.”Woodward also suggests that Trump and Putin may have spoken up to seven times since Trump left the White House in 2021.
The Kremlin, however, denied the allegations regarding the phone calls.
Officials from Trump’s election campaign rejected all claims made by Woodward about the Republican leader.According to the Washington Post, the book portrays Biden as a cautious and resolute commander-in-chief, while describing obstinate foreign leaders, especially Russian leader Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, as angry individuals.
The book alleges that in private conversations, US President Joe Biden cursed at Putin and Netanyahu.Woodward writes that Biden’s anger towards Netanyahu reached its peak this spring when he realized that Netanyahu aimed to protect his political career rather than defeat Hamas.
Further, it is claimed that Biden also confronted the Israeli leader in their last face-to-face meeting.Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris made statements after her face-to-face meeting with Netanyahu.
Speaking strongly about the costs of military operations, Harris promised not to remain “silent about the suffering of the Palestinians” in public.
With these remarks, Harris used a different tone regarding conflicts in public compared to Biden. However, it is argued that in her private meeting with Netanyahu, Harris did not confront the Israeli leader so harshly.
Israel’s Washington Ambassador Michael Herzog commented on Harris’s stance, saying, “She wants to appear tough in public, but she is not that tough in private.”The book indicates that the US conducted extensive intelligence activities regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Furthermore, it is claimed that Washington inserted spies into the Kremlin.
The book details some of the striking intelligence capabilities of the US, including an insider source within the Kremlin. American intelligence officials claimed that the likelihood of Russia using nuclear weapons in 2022 had increased by “fifty percent.”
Subsequently, it is reported that US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin called then-Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, while US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan communicated with the Kiev administration.
