Rabies outbreak claims 3 lives: Health checks to be conducted door to door

In India, hundreds of people have been affected by a rabies outbreak, with 3 deaths reported. The movement of domestic animals and stray dogs has been prohibited in certain areas.

At least 3 people have lost their lives due to the rabies outbreak in northeastern India.

According to reports in the Indian media, hundreds of people have been affected by the outbreak.

Authorities have announced restrictions in certain areas to prevent the spread of the outbreak.

It was reported that the outbreak is concentrated in specific sub-regions where New Zoveng Village in the Churachandpur Sub-Division is identified as the primary hotspot. The village has been declared a “Control Zone” with immediate effect.

District Magistrate Dharun Kumar S issued an official notification outlining measures to prevent the spread of rabies.

The movement of domestic animals and stray dogs within and around New Zoveng Village has been prohibited.

It was stated that both domestic and stray dogs will be vaccinated against rabies under the supervision of the District Veterinary Department.

The District Veterinary Department will conduct health checks door to door for village residents and animals.

Furthermore, it was noted that the sale and transportation of domestic dogs and other animals will not be allowed during the containment period.
