The Perm nuclear submarine in Russia, where hypersonic missiles are stationed, has been launched. Putin made remarks during the ceremony.

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Atomflot in Murmansk Port. During his visit yesterday evening, Putin participated in the launching ceremony of the new fourth-generation multi-purpose nuclear Perm submarine in Severodvinsk via video conference.

Putin thanked the teams involved in the production of the submarine in his speech at the ceremony, saying, “Today the Perm nuclear-powered multi-purpose submarine is being launched in the magnificent Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk. We continue the serial production of modern missile submarines. It is expected to join the navy next year to participate in combat missions.”

Putin emphasized that Yasen-M missile submarines have state-of-the-art navigation and communication systems as well as advanced sonar devices. He stated, “They also carry high-precision weapons and robotic systems. Perm became the first multi-purpose submarine to carry Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles.”

“We will continue to strengthen”

Putin said they will continue to strengthen the navy and emphasized that the speed and scale of construction of warships and submarines equipped with modern weapons, advanced technology, and communication systems have been steadily increasing. Putin said, “These submarines and warships will enhance the strength of our fleets, strengthen the security of Russia’s maritime borders, and protect the Northern Sea Route. They will also help support Russia’s national interests worldwide, including the Arctic region, which is becoming increasingly important in terms of economic, logistics, and transportation amid growing global competition. We will continue to do everything possible to defend Russia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and to enhance its status as a leading naval power.”
