The Kremlin announced that the meeting between US President Trump’s Special Envoy for the Middle East Witkoff and Russian leader Putin lasted over 4 hours.

US President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Russia’s St. Petersburg for the 3rd time this year.

A statement from the Kremlin indicated that the meeting, held at the Presidential Library yesterday, lasted for more than 4 hours.

The closed-door meeting, which ended around 10:00 PM local time, reportedly discussed various aspects of resolving the Ukraine crisis. Putin’s Special Envoy for Investment and Economic Cooperation, Kirill Dmitriev, described the meeting as “productive”.

Following the meeting, it was announced that the plane carrying Witkoff departed from Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg around 11:00 PM local time.

“PRESIDENT WANTS THE WAR TO END”

White House Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated in her remarks about the meeting, “This is another step in the negotiation process for a ceasefire and final peace agreement in Russia and Ukraine.”

Leavitt mentioned that the President has been consistently disappointed by both sides, stating, “The President has made it quite clear that he wants the war to end. We believe we have the power to turn an agreement into a peace deal, and we will use that power.”

Witkoff and Putin last met in Moscow on March 13th.
