1 Mins Read

Dozens of people marched in the capital city of Mexico, Mexico City, to protest against Israel’s attacks on Gaza.

Marching on a busy street in Mexico City with Palestinian flags in hand, demonstrators reacted to Israel breaking the ceasefire and resuming attacks on the Gaza Strip. Palestinian supporters called on the government of Mexico and President Claudia Sheinbaum to sever diplomatic relations with Israel. Participants in the demonstration lit candles and left flowers in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Mexican activist Benjamin Ortiz drew attention to the Palestinians who lost their lives in Gaza as a result of Israel’s bombing.

“MEXICO SHOULD NOT REMAIN SILENT” Writer Rui, a Palestinian supporter who took part in the protest, emphasized how horrific and heartbreaking the events in Gaza were, stating, “Mexico has close economic ties with Israel, and there are people here fighting for Israel. Mexico should not remain silent in the face of what Israel is doing.”
