Protest against UK’s arms sales to Israel with a Picasso painting

1 Mins Read

In England, members of the group Youth Demand targeted Picasso’s painting “La Maternite” (Maternity) at the National Gallery in London to protest arms sales to Israel. The demonstrators affixed a photo of a mother and child from Gaza to the painting. The group accused the British government of selling arms to Israel and called for an arms embargo. The Gallery stated that the painting was not damaged and that two protesters were arrested.
