2 Mins Read

The price of salted Antep pistachios, which were sold for 650-700 TL per kilogram in Gaziantep last year, has dropped to 500 TL this year.

Pistachio producers noted that the market has become more active thanks to the high yield, and they expressed their joy over the intense demand shown by the citizens. Meanwhile, citizens expressed their satisfaction with the prices, stating that pistachios are more affordable this year.

“CITIZENS BUYING KILOGRAMS OF PISTACHIOS” Speaking about pistachio prices, shopkeeper Özgürcan Aytekin said, “There’s a noticeable change in pistachio prices. The prices for fresh pistachios are set at 600 TL. As the yield increased, prices dropped. This change impacted the prices of salted Antep pistachios as well. Last year, pistachios were scarce, so prices were high. This year, there is an abundance of pistachios, so prices dropped to 500 TL. Citizens are buying kilograms of pistachios. As shopkeepers, we are pleased.”

“WE CONSUME MORE WHEN IT’S CHEAPER” A customer who expressed satisfaction with the price drop said, “The prices are really good right now. The cheaper pistachios are, the more we consume. Previously, we would consume half a kilogram. Now, we eat 2-3 kilograms. As citizens, we are very pleased with the pistachio prices.”
