President Recep Tayyip Erdogan greeted Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye in Ankara with an official ceremony. Subsequently, a signing ceremony for agreements and a joint press conference between the two countries were held. During the press statement, President Erdogan emphasized that the trade volume between the two countries is approaching $500 million, with the initial goal being one billion dollars. Erdogan mentioned that the discussions also addressed the issues of Palestine and Lebanon, stating, “The region is heading towards a serious ring of fire. We will work together to control the situation, especially under the United Nations.”
President Erdogan’s diplomatic activities in Ankara continue, with President Faye of Senegal as a guest in Beştepe today.

Horsemen welcomed Faye’s official car at the presidential compound front road in Ankara, accompanying it to the protocol gate. Following Erdogan and Faye’s seating at the ceremony site, the bands performed the national anthems of both countries. The ceremony included flags representing the 16 Turkish states in history, as well as soldiers, and a 21-gun salute. Faye greeted the Guard of Honor with a “Hello, soldiers.” Erdogan and Faye then introduced their delegations to each other. President Erdogan and Faye shook hands at the stairs, posing for photos in front of the Turkish and Senegalese flags.

They signed a memorandum of understanding that elevates our relations to a strategic partnership. During our today’s meetings, we discussed cooperation opportunities in various areas between our countries, including investments, trade, security, defense industry, counter-terrorism, energy, agriculture, urban planning, culture, and higher education.”
In this regard, Erdogan highlighted that five agreements were signed, emphasizing, “Turkey’s trade and investment relations with Senegal are continuously increasing. Our trade volume has almost reached $500 million. Our primary goal is one billion dollars. We agree on swiftly reaching this target with our esteemed friend.” He mentioned that investments by Turkish companies in Senegal have reached a total value of $3 billion.
Additionally, Erdogan underlined the support of Senegal authorities in the fight against FETO, security, defense industry collaboration, and action against terrorism. Discussions also touched on the developments in the Sahel region and Palestine. Both expressed their satisfied with the cooperation between the two nations.Yemen, Libya and Ukraine and measures that could be taken against them.
