In the plane crash that occurred in the capital city of Mogadishu, Somalia, 5 people lost their lives. According to a written statement from the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), the DHC-5D Buffalo model aircraft, which departed from South Somalia yesterday, crashed approximately 24 kilometers southwest of Mogadishu. The crash took place around 17:40 local time, resulting in the death of 5 crew members of Kenyan nationality. A preliminary investigation has been launched by the Somali government to determine the cause of the accident, with ongoing search and rescue operations at the crash site. The DHC-5 Buffalo aircraft is commonly used for transportation and humanitarian aid operations in remote and challenging regions, known for its capability to take off and land at small airports, making it a suitable option for Somalia’s harsh conditions.
