In February, the total payment amount with credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards increased by 50% compared to the same month last year, reaching 1.522.8 trillion lira.

The Interbank Card Center (BKM) announced the data for the month of February. As of February, the number of credit cards in Turkey reached 131.2 million, the number of debit cards reached 196.9 million, and the number of prepaid cards reached 114.5 million. Compared to the same period last year, the number of credit cards increased by 9%, the number of debit cards increased by 3%, and the number of prepaid cards increased by 25%. The total number of cards in February reached 442.6 million, increasing by 10% compared to the same month last year. The total payment amount with credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards in February also increased by 50% compared to the same period last year, reaching 1.522.8 trillion lira. Out of this, 1.288.2 trillion lira of payments were made with credit cards, 203.6 billion lira with debit cards, and 31 billion lira with prepaid cards. The growth rate in payments made with credit cards was 53% compared to the same period last year, 35% with debit cards, and 63% with prepaid cards. 4 out of 5 card payments were contactless.
