OpenAI is reportedly working on a new social media platform with a social feed centered around ChatGPT’s visual generation features. According to The Verge’s report, the project is still in its early stages, but CEO Sam Altman is said to be gathering external opinions on the project. It is not yet clear whether the new social media platform will be integrated with the ChatGPT application or offered as a completely independent application. However, with ChatGPT becoming the most downloaded application last month, interest in this new platform has already increased.
This move is expected to further intensify the competition between Altman and X’s owner Elon Musk. As it is known, Musk offered to buy OpenAI for $97.4 billion last February, and Altman responded to this offer by saying, “No thank you, but if you want, we can acquire Twitter for $9.74 billion.” OpenAI’s entry into the social media market could also deepen its competition with Meta. It is reported that Meta is also preparing an independent application with social feed features for its own artificial intelligence assistant. If OpenAI’s social media platform is launched, the company will be able to gain direct access to real-time data that platforms like X and Meta have, providing a significant advantage in training artificial intelligence models.
