The first day of the holiday is being celebrated at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem under Israeli occupation. Despite restrictions, approximately 120,000 Palestinians performed the holiday prayer at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Some were subjected to searches at checkpoints. In East Jerusalem under occupation, the Al-Aqsa Mosque is celebrating the first day of the holiday under Israeli restrictions. According to the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf Administration, around 120,000 people performed the holiday prayer at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Palestinians defied Israeli police restrictions and made their way to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem under occupation. Israeli police conducted identity checks and searches on some Palestinians at checkpoints surrounding the Old City of East Jerusalem, the host of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Throughout Ramadan, Israel had implemented some restrictions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Israeli authorities had announced that a limited number of people over 50 years old from the West Bank and over 55 years old men would be allowed to enter. Israeli media reported that 10,000 Palestinians from the West Bank would be allowed to go to Al-Aqsa. Palestinians coming from the occupied West Bank to Al-Aqsa were detained at checkpoints, and many were turned back despite meeting age requirements, being told to leave Jerusalem and return to the West Bank by evening.
