The US and Ukrainian Foreign Ministries met in Jeddah, the capital of Saudi Arabia, yesterday. During the meeting, Ukraine expressed its readiness to immediately implement a 30-day temporary ceasefire. The ceasefire can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties and will be subject to simultaneous implementation by Russia. The same statement also mentioned that the US will lift the restriction on intelligence sharing with Kiev immediately and will resume security assistance to Ukraine.
The first comment on the ceasefire plan came from US President Donald Trump. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov also made critical statements regarding the proposal.
