South Korea has reported that North Korea may be preparing to “blast” unused roads between the two countries. According to the statement from the General Staff Headquarters, North Korea is said to have laid mines along the “inter-Korean” roads.
According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, North Korea is preparing to blast roads between the two countries.
Lee Sung Joon, the spokesperson for the South Korean General Staff Headquarters, made statements at a daily press briefing.
Lee stated that North Korea had laid mines on unused “inter-Korean” roads in the country’s north. Lee claimed that North Korea was carrying out activities indicating a readiness to “blast the roads,” with the explosion potentially occurring “as early as today.” Lee also noted that North Korea could conduct a space rocket launch test and that the Pyongyang regime might resort to “minor provocations” to increase pressure on the Seoul administration.
“SELF-DEFENSE MEASURE” STATEMENT North Korea’s People’s Army announced that the land and railway connections between them and South Korea, described as the “primary enemy state,” would be cut off. They described this action as a “self-defense measure aimed at preventing war and ensuring the country’s security.” The South Korean Ministry of Unification strongly condemned this decision. It was later reported yesterday that North Korea had ordered artillery units near the southern border to fire on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) coming from South Korea. Tensions have been escalating between the two countries over the issue of “balloon trash” and “UAVs” for some time.
