During a meeting in Moscow with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui expressed confidence that Russia will achieve a great victory in the war in Ukraine. Choe assured that they will stand by their Russian comrades until the day of victory. As part of an official visit, North Korean Minister Choe arrived in Moscow, where he was welcomed with flowers by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. They inaugurated a memorial plaque in commemoration of former North Korean leader Kim Il-sung’s visit to Moscow in 1949 before proceeding to the Russian Foreign Ministry for their meeting. Lavrov emphasized the exceptional level of bilateral relations between their countries in recent years, attributing it to the special interest shown by Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. He highlighted the Strategic Partnership Agreement as a solid foundation for deepening relations in all areas of the bilateral agenda. Lavrov mentioned the establishment of close contacts between the military and security services of both countries, enabling important discussions on security issues. Lavrov also thanked North Korea for its stance on the situation in Ukraine. Choe reiterated the belief in Russia’s imminent victory in the sacred struggle to defend sovereignty and security under President Vladimir Putin’s leadership. He assured that they will continue to stand by their Russian comrades until the day of victory. Choe emphasized the dangerous and unstable situation on the Korean Peninsula due to the actions of the US and allies, warning that the military alliance between the US and South Korea could escalate tensions. He underscored the importance of enhancing preparations for a potential nuclear attack and strengthening their nuclear response capabilities to address present and future threats.
