The Nobel Physics Prize winners have been revealed. American John Hopfield and Canadian-British Geoffrey Hinton have won the Nobel Physics Prize for their groundbreaking research in machine learning. The jury honored the duo for their “fundamental discoveries and inventions enabling machine learning with artificial neural networks.”

In 2024, the Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded to American Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun for their discovery of microRNA and their studies in gene regulation. Ambros and Ruvkun discovered a new small RNA molecule called microRNA that plays a significant role in gene regulation, unveiling a new principle of gene regulation with their findings.
