The 2024 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to the Japanese organization Nihon Hidankyo for their efforts in the field of “nuclear disarmament.”

The award was presented to the Japanese organization Nihon Hidankyo for their work on nuclear disarmament.
Nihon Hidankyo, a grassroots movement of survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, also known as Hibakusha, received the award. In a statement by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, it was stated that, “Hibakusha has been awarded the Peace Prize for their efforts towards a world free from nuclear weapons and for their testimony highlighting the need to never use nuclear weapons again.”
