The Mayor of Chilpancingo in Mexico, Alejandro Arcos, was found dead six days after assuming office. It is believed that he was killed by drug cartels after promising to combat drug trafficking. Just three days earlier, Francisco Tapia, who had been appointed as the city’s secretary, was also murdered.
Arcos, the newly elected Mayor of Chilpancingo in Guerrero state, had pledged to fight against drug trafficking and had taken office last week after winning the elections.
However, just six days after starting his new role, Mayor Arcos was assassinated.
No details regarding the investigation or suspects were disclosed in the statement made by the state prosecutor’s office.
In Arcos’s recent social media posts, it was evident that he had commenced work immediately after taking office and had been involved in relief efforts following last month’s John Hurricane. THREE DAYS AGO, THE SECRETARY WAS KILLED

In Guerrero state, the most affected by drug trafficking in the country, drug cartels have killed dozens of politicians.
“A MURDER THAT FILLS US WITH ANGER” Governor Evelyn Salgado of Guerrero state expressed, “We are mourning due to a murder that fills us with anger.”
Mexican senator Alejandro Moreno stated, “Arcos and Tapia were young and honest politicians who worked for their communities.”
