A new regulation has been introduced regarding alcohol-serving establishments. The use of materials for service purposes in establishments, other than for serving and consuming alcoholic beverages, has been restricted. The “Regulation on Service Materials Used in Establishments Holding an Open Alcohol Sales Certificate for Alcohol-serving Establishments” prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry was published in the Official Gazette. With the regulation, limits have been set for the use of service materials that can feature alcoholic beverage brands, emblems, and logos in alcohol consumption points holding an open alcohol sales certificate. Accordingly, materials such as glasses, goblets, pitchers, or carafes made of glass or other material used for serving alcoholic beverages to consumers in these establishments, openers and corkscrews used to open the packaging of alcoholic beverages before consumption, trays and ice buckets used for serving alcohol to consumers, tap systems used to prepare beer-type alcoholic beverages and fill them into serving containers, mats specially designed for alcoholic beverages placed on service counters, and containers, scales, and sticks used in the preparation of alcoholic beverage mixtures may feature alcoholic beverage brands, emblems, or logos. However, these materials cannot be used for any purpose other than serving and consuming alcoholic beverages. NO DESCRIPTION OTHER THAN LOGO Only the brand, emblem, or logos present in the original packaging of alcoholic beverages authorized for sale can be used on these materials. No phrase or description related to alcoholic beverages other than the specified brand, emblem, or logo can be included on service materials. The use of non-compliant service materials will be subject to an administrative fine, considered to have encouraging content and advertising nature. The regulation will enter into force after 6 months.
