The application of physical exit fee stamps taken when leaving the country will end on January 1, 2025. With the new implementation, the exit fee abroad will now be paid online. Stamps for exit fees already acquired will be valid until January 10, 2025. The use of physical exit fee stamps when leaving the country will terminate as of January 1. The Draft Regulation on Exit Fees was published on the website of the Revenue Administration (RA) for public opinion. The draft was prepared under paper savings measures and green transformation initiatives. Exit fees can be paid in advance at tax offices, customs directorates, comptroller’s offices, treasury accounting directorates, authorized banks, and PTT branches in exchange for a receipt before leaving the country. Exit fees can also be paid through RA’s Digital Tax Office and mobile applications, as well as internet banking and mobile banking applications of authorized banks. With the implementation of the regulation, as of January 1, 2025, the method of payment for exit fees with paper stamps will be abolished. However, exit fee stamps purchased over 500 Turkish liras, valid until the end of 2024, will remain valid until January 10. With this regulation, the practice of receiving a stamp after payment of the fee, typically at airports and ports, will become a thing of the past. Electronic payments can be monitored through the system, with the fee amount being recorded in the system upon departure.
