New Era for Real Estate Agents in Ankara to Begin After Eid

3 Mins Read

A new era is starting for real estate agents. In authorized offices of the real estate sector, there will now be a sign with the letter “E” for institutionalization purposes. The All Real Estate Consultants Association (TEDB) announced that the application will begin after the Eid holiday. Authorized real estate agents will now have an “E” sign. The President of the All Real Estate Consultants Association (TEDB), Hakan Akçam, stated that they will initiate the “E” sign application in offices for the institutionalization of the real estate sector after the Ramadan Feast. Akçam said, “The property trading license number will be written in the bottom corner of the sign. Additionally, there will be a QR code on the sign containing information related to the real estate consultant.” Akçam stated that there are 8,500 real estate consultants in Ankara and 142,000 nationwide in Turkey. Emphasizing the presence of symbolic signs at the entrances of pharmacies and veterinarians for institutionalization purposes, Akçam stated, “We will start the ‘E’ sign application after the Ramadan Feast to enhance institutionalization in the sector.” Highlighting that Ankara will be the pilot region, and later they will expand this application nationwide, Akçam made the following assessment, “We will hang the sign at the entrances of offices run by responsible real estate consultants, those who have obtained a real estate trading license from the Ministry of Commerce. We have applied to the Ministry of Commerce to make the sign mandatory. We believe that our Ministry of Commerce will support us.” Mentioning taking measures against fraud, Akçam continued, “The property trading license number will be written in the bottom corner of the sign. Additionally, there will be a QR code on the sign containing information related to the real estate consultant. When citizens scan the QR code, they will be directed to the Ministry of Commerce’s page and will be able to access information regarding the real estate agent. We hear about many problematic issues in the real estate sector. With this application, we will prevent problematic and troublesome businesses. We want ill-intentioned people to be completely excluded from the profession.” Stressing the importance of the property trading license, Akçam mentioned that those who want to obtain the license should have completed an internship of at least 6 months if they are undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate students, and a minimum of 12 months for those outside those categories. Akçam indicated the obligation to complete the internship, obtain a tax certificate, and establish a chamber registration after completing the internship. He said, “It is necessary to have Level 5, which we call professional competence certificate, and complete online training. After meeting these criteria, one can apply for the property trading license from the Ministry of Commerce’s website. If this license is not acquired and the conditions are not met, one cannot get involved in the profession.” Akçam also added that contracted staff working with real estate agents do not need to obtain a property trading license. Real estate agents who have obtained a property trading license from the Ministry of Commerce will hang signs at their office entrances with dimensions of 50×50. The sign will have a red frame around it, with a white “E” symbol on top of a red house visual.
