Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that efforts are being made to bring back prisoners in Gaza after Hamas’ military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, released a video of captured US and Israeli citizen soldier Edan Alexander. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office stated that Netanyahu met with Alexander’s parents, expressing solidarity by sharing their pain and striving for the return of prisoners in Gaza. However, Alexander’s family in the US, after the release of the video, criticized the government for entering the sacred Passover holiday without their child who immigrated to Israel and joined the army. In the video published by the Al-Qassam Brigades, dual citizen soldier Alexander pointed out that US President Donald Trump had become a victim of Netanyahu’s lies. Describing Netanyahu as seizing control of the state like a dictator every day, Alexander questioned why he was left behind instead of being with his family and why a second video was being recorded that day. He also expressed his belief in President Trump’s ability to bring him out alive and questioned why he had become a victim of Netanyahu’s lies instead. The Al-Qassam Brigades released another video in November 2024, after Trump was elected as US President, with the approval of Alexander’s family, where he addressed Trump.
