Musk and OpenAI Reach Agreement: Legal Process Accelerating

1 Mins Read

Elon Musk and OpenAI have reached an agreement to expedite the profit motive lawsuit. Both parties have taken the initial step towards a joint hearing.

Elon Musk and OpenAI have reached an agreement to speed up the lawsuit concerning the shift of the artificial intelligence company to a profit-driven structure. In a joint request to the court, they have asked for a joint hearing. A decision on whether the case will be heard by a jury or solely by a judge has been postponed to a later date. The court had previously denied Musk’s request in March to halt the transition of his artificial intelligence group at OpenAI to a profit-driven model. OpenAI’s statement welcomed the court’s rejection of Elon Musk’s attempt to slow down the organization for his personal interests on March 4. Musk had filed a lawsuit alleging that OpenAI had abandoned its founding mission of developing beneficial AI for humanity without profit, claiming a violation of the company’s articles of incorporation. OpenAI had also published a series of emails and messages supporting Musk’s endorsement of the profit-driven nature of the artificial intelligence venture in 2017.

Musk had made a $97 billion offer to acquire OpenAI, but the offer was declined.
