Moscow Statement on Ukraine Attacking Despite Ceasefire

1 Mins Read

Despite the ceasefire agreement reached with the United States, Moscow announced that Ukraine conducted drone attacks on electricity infrastructure yesterday evening and today. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Ukraine continued its attacks on energy infrastructure despite the agreement with the US. In a written statement from the Ministry, it was mentioned that Ukraine carried out drone attacks on electricity infrastructure in Bryansk yesterday evening and today. The statement indicated power outages due to the attacks and also mentioned a drone attack on a natural gas depot in Crimea. Despite Ukrainian officials’ statements that a ceasefire agreement was reached for energy facilities, the statement emphasized that such attacks persist. Following the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on March 18, it was announced that Russia and Ukraine agreed to halt attacks on energy infrastructure facilities for 30 days. The Kremlin had stated that under the agreement with the US, attacks on facilities such as oil refineries and energy pipelines in Russia and Ukraine would cease.
