Technological products such as mobile phones and tablets will be made environmentally friendly. As a result, a minimum of 7 years of warranty will be provided for spare parts of the products. It will be mandatory for devices to be resistant to dropping 45 times. The regulation is expected to come into effect in June. The Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) is taking action for smartphones and tablets. In line with the European Union (EU) legislation, a draft communiqué is being prepared to make smartphones and tablets environmentally friendly. According to a report in Türkiye Gazetesi, companies will be required to provide spare parts for technological products such as mobile phones, tablets, speakers, cameras for at least 7 more years after the market supply ends. RESET SOFTWARE WILL BE MANDATORY Insurance covering the obligations arising from the activities of repairers will be required. Furthermore, there will be mandatory software to ensure that all personal information on the devices is reset. TO BE MADE MORE DURABLE Devices will be committed to being resistant to dropping 45 times without protective coating, foil, or case. Additionally, devices cannot fall below a certain level of hardness in scratch resistance. They will be resistant to the entry of foreign objects larger than one millimeter and splashes of water. Some conditions will be imposed on manufacturers and importers regarding operating system updates. It is indicated that this regulation could come into effect in June.
