Minister Uraloğlu: Rize-Artvin Airport’s runway lighting system is being upgraded to Cat-2 level

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced, “I would like to share another piece of good news with you. We are upgrading Rize-Artvin Airport’s runway lighting system to the CAT-2 level, allowing airplanes to land at night and in limited visibility. We have completed the installation of an additional second ILS device. By the end of this month, it will be ready for service. It is our common wish for Rize and our country to reach brighter days.”

Minister Uraloğlu participated in a meeting with Rize Non-Governmental Organizations. In his speech, he stated, “Today, we came to Rize due to the light sighting ceremony at the Çamlıhemşin Tunnel. While we are here, we cannot leave without conversing, listening to the needs and demands of our non-governmental organizations and opinion leaders. Your experiences, knowledge, and suggestions hold great importance in forming and implementing public policies. Therefore, we are here to listen to your voices, hear your opinions and suggestions, and collaborate with you.”

“The mantra ‘Keep the people alive for the state to thrive’ is like a compass for us,” emphasized Minister Uraloğlu, mentioning their efforts to work on a new constitution. He expressed his belief that implementing a new constitution with the help of the public would expand the scope of civil politics and accelerate the resolution of the country’s issues.

“We will work harder despite adversity, we will produce more despite opposition,” Minister Uraloğlu expressed the hostile intentions of external forces towards Turkey’s major projects. Despite these challenges, he emphasized their commitment to working harder and producing more.

“With dedicated brothers like these, no one can deter us from our path,” Minister Uraloğlu stated, referring to the engineers who risked their lives to protect the Hürjet during the TUSAŞ attack.

“A total of 277 billion dollars has been invested in 22 years,” Minister Uraloğlu highlighted the strategic importance of the transportation and infrastructure sectors for Turkey’s economic development. He emphasized the significant investments made in the country’s transportation and communication infrastructure in the past 22 years.

“We have spent 135 billion 935 million Turkish Lira on Rize’s transportation and communication infrastructure,” Minister Uraloğlu mentioned the comprehensive projects implemented to meet Rize’s growing transportation needs, highlighting the significant investments made in the region.

“We are upgrading Rize-Artvin Airport’s lighting system to Cat-2 level,” announced Minister Uraloğlu, by sharing the upgrade of the airport’s lighting system to Cat-2 level, which will facilitate landings during poor visibility conditions and at night, indicating that the second ILS device installation is underway.

Rize-Artvin Airport has served approximately 2.5 million passengers on 16,637 flights since its opening on May 14, 2022, Minister Uraloğlu mentioned the successful service record of Rize-Artvin Airport, indicating upcoming new flight routes and additional services to meet the growing demand.

Endeavoring for joint development and progress, Minister Uraloğlu emphasized the importance of collective advancement, urging all to focus on the region’s prosperity and optimize energy for Rize’s development. He affirmed their commitment to continue relentlessly on this path.
