Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, will attend G20 and World Bank meetings as part of his US contacts. Şimşek will meet with numerous figures, including US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and World Bank President Ajay Banga. Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan will also accompany Minister Şimşek. Today marks the start of these US contacts, where Minister Şimşek will engage in bilateral meetings with various figures, including US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Pakistani Finance Minister Muhammed Aurangzeb. According to information from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Şimşek will be accompanied by Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan during his US visits. His program includes attending official events, investor meetings, and conducting bilateral meetings. Minister Şimşek will participate in approximately 50 meetings throughout his visit to the US. After the two-day G20 meetings, Minister Şimşek will participate in the World Bank Development Committee meeting. During the G20 meetings, Şimşek will also meet with his counterparts from other countries. In addition to attending investor meetings, Şimşek will also meet with the presidents and senior management of multilateral development banks, including World Bank President Ajay Banga, Asian Development Bank President Candidate Masato Kanda, Japan International Cooperation Agency President Nobumitsu Hayashi, European Council Development Bank President Carlo Monticelli, Islamic Development Bank President Muhammad Al Jasser, and senior executives of the International Finance Corporation. Minister Şimşek will also meet with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and First Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath. As part of his US contacts, Minister Şimşek will attend investor meetings, participate in extensive investor seminars with leading investment banks such as BBVA, JP Morgan, BoFA, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Standard Chartered, and Barclays, where he will deliver presentations. Minister Şimşek will also meet with the country’s leading think tanks. At the Hutchins Center at the Brookings Institution, he will deliver a detailed presentation on the Turkish economy. Additionally, Minister Şimşek will meet with academicians and economists closely following Turkey at the Atlantic Council and the International Institute of Finance.
