Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, stated that they aim to enhance economic relations with China and achieve a more balanced structure in trade. “I believe that the acceleration and deepening of cooperation between Turkey and China will not only benefit the two countries but will also contribute to regional and global peace, prosperity, and stability,” said Şimşek. Reflecting on the Turkey-China Joint Governmental Cooperation Committee meeting on his social media account, Şimşek shared his thoughts. He mentioned meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing in Beijing for the Turkey-China Joint Governmental Cooperation Committee meeting, where they agreed to increase investments between the two countries, strengthen cooperation in infrastructure financing, energy, tourism, civil aviation, and agriculture. Şimşek also mentioned that the first meeting of the Joint Working Group on coordinating the Belt and Road Initiative and the Middle Corridor was held. Emphasizing that China is Turkey’s biggest trading partner in Asia, Şimşek stated that they aim to enhance economic relations with China and strive for a more balanced structure in trade.
