2 Mins Read

Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat stated that calls for boycott from the opposition were ineffective. Bolat said, “Our people have embraced their economy, trade, craftsmen, and domestic and national brands.” Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat reported that the boycott calls for stopping shopping and trade made by the main opposition party CHP and some circles on Wednesday, April 2, ended in failure. Bolat highlighted that the boycott calls did not succeed and emphasized that the Turkish economy benefited during this process. He said, “In comparison to April 1, twice as much shopping was done on April 2.” “INTENSE PARTICIPATION IN SHOPPING” Bolat shared on his social media account that the efforts of the government to integrate with the people and support trade, the national economy, and craftsmen were greatly appreciated by the public. He continued by underlining, “Despite April 2 being right after the three-day Ramadan holiday and the vast majority of our people having spent significantly on the eve and the day of the holiday, they showed intense participation in shopping to thwart the boycott calls and boycotters for the benefit of shopkeepers, markets, shopping centers, restaurants, cafes.” “OUR PEOPLE BOYCOTTED THE BOYCOTTERS” Referring to the statistics of the Interbank Card Center (BKM), Bolat reported that card shopping, which was 14 billion liras on April 1, rose to 28 billion liras on April 2. Bolat drew attention to the fact that shopping on April 2 exceeded the daily averages from March 3-22, adding, “Moreover, only 55% of card transactions pass through BKM. The remaining 45% of card transactions are shared with BKM by banks within 5 days. These results indicate that our people boycotted the boycotters. Our people have embraced their economy, trade, craftsmen, and domestic and national brands. We express our gratitude to our noble and esteemed people who achieved this result, to the business organizations and administrations that lamented and opposed the boycott calls, and to everyone who contributed to the solidarity we demonstrated as a government and as a nation by uniting.”
