At the fishmongers’ stalls, anchovies have been replaced by horse mackerel and mackerel. Horse mackerel and mackerel are being sold for prices ranging between 100 and 125 lira. In the Moloz area of Ortahisar district in Trabzon, anchovies, in limited quantities, are being sold for 175 lira, while horse mackerel and mackerel are priced between 100 and 125 lira, salmon for 200 lira, sea bass and bream for 300 lira, and trout for 150 to 175 lira. Fisherman Mustafa Karslı stated that these days, nearing the end of Ramadan, the season has been very fruitful. Karslı mentioned that various fish, sold at reasonable prices, have also attracted the interest of customers, saying, “Horse mackerel and mackerel are being sold for prices between 100 and 125 lira. Horse mackerel and mackerel have now taken the place of bonito and anchovies.” He also noted that the fishing ban is soon to be lifted, and with the increase in angling, horse mackerel and mackerel are expected to have a more prominent place at the stalls in the upcoming days. Fisherman Turgay Memiş conveyed that customers have shown interest in a variety of fish during Ramadan, stating, “Ramadan has been very nice. Stalls have been decorated with fish such as horse mackerel, red mullet, picarel, trout, sea bream, and sea bass.”
