According to news reports in the Mexican press, the new President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has announced that her country supports a two-state solution in the ongoing Israel-Palestine issue.

During a daily press conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum condemned the violence in the Middle East and argued that “war will not lead to peace.” Speaking for the first time on the Israel-Palestine issue since taking office in early October, Sheinbaum emphasized their support for a two-state solution.

Sheinbaum stated, “Just as Israel’s state is recognized, we believe that Palestine should also be fully recognized.” Winning approximately 60% of the votes in the June election, Sheinbaum became Mexico’s first female president.
