Italy’s leader Giorgia Meloni called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to express that the attacks on the UN Peacekeeping Force are unacceptable. Meloni also emphasized the urgent need to de-escalate conflicts in the region.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni phoned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the attack on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) soldiers.
Meloni told Netanyahu that the attacks are unacceptable. In a statement from the Italian government, it was mentioned that “Prime Minister Meloni reiterated that the attack on UNIFIL by the Israeli armed forces is unacceptable.” Italy makes a significant contribution to the UN mission known as UNIFIL. During the phone call with Netanyahu, Meloni also called for the “full implementation” of the UN Security Council Resolution 1701 regarding Lebanon and underscored the urgent need to de-escalate conflicts in the region.
