Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek met with investors during his official visit to Qatar. Minister Şimşek held discussions with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Doha. Following that, Şimşek met with Finance Minister Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari and Mansour bin Ibrahim Al-Mahmoud, the CEO of Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), to address the commercial and economic relations between the two countries. Additionally, as part of the “Invest in Turkey” program organized by the Turkish Embassy in Doha, Şimşek engaged with investors to discuss Turkey’s economic goals and strategies to increase direct investments. He shared the progress made in Turkey’s economic reform process and the country’s future priorities.
Şimşek also briefed investors on Turkey’s new economic policies, the targets in the Medium-Term Program, and the preparation for reforms, underscoring the country’s strategic advantages to boost direct investments. He highlighted Turkey’s regional and global economic potential, sustainable growth objectives, and investment attraction goals. Following the event, Şimşek addressed the media, stating: “Today, we had the opportunity to meet with leading businessmen and entrepreneurs from various sectors in Qatar. We presented the stability and reform program implemented in Turkey, showing its tangible results. We also evaluated Turkey’s long-term potential and emphasized why investing in Turkey would be beneficial for both themselves and our country in the long run. Turkey’s large economy, strong growth performance, and remarkable infrastructure development in recent years were also discussed. Given Turkey’s diverse sectors, it is a significant investment destination regionally and globally. With the consolidation of macroeconomic stability, I believe that investments will increase in Qatar as well. The significant interest from over 250 high-level participants shows their affection for Turkey and strong interest in the Turkish economy. The noticeable increase in this interest compared to the previous year is reassuring and demonstrates that we are on the right track.”
Following his visit to Qatar, Şimşek will proceed to Kuwait as his second destination. He will meet with Finance Minister and State Minister for Economic Affairs and Investments Nura Sulaiman Al-Fassam, along with Ghanim Sulaiman Al-Ghanim, the CEO of Kuwait Investment Authority. After attending an investor meeting in Kuwait, Minister Şimşek will return home.
