The Ministry of Finance of Russia has announced that they are working on a large privatization process, including seized companies. The Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov stated that they aim to start a major privatization process in Russia, including companies seized as a result of court decisions. Speaking at an event in the capital Moscow, Siluanov said that they need to develop new strategies for development. He mentioned that they conducted a study last year to identify inactive assets, and said, “We will prepare a proposal for a major privatization process. We believe that now is a good time to consider privatization for 2025.” Siluanov also mentioned the companies seized by court decisions, stating, “We aim to generate about 100 billion rubles (approximately 1.2 billion dollars) from the sale of these companies.” Companies owned by Western countries such as Danone and Carlsberg in Russia had their management taken over in response to sanctions.
