Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenko hinted at the deployment of US and Polish troops along Belarus’ western borders as a NATO force. Lukashenko warned that they would use nuclear weapons if there was an attack from the western borders of Belarus.
During a meeting with university students in the capital Minsk, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko discussed the use of nuclear weapons.
He emphasized that an attack on Belarus could trigger a Third World War.
He pointed out Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “nuclear doctrine modification,” allowing the use of nuclear weapons in the event of an attack on Russia or his country. Lukashenko highlighted the presence of US and Polish troops along Belarus’ western borders as a NATO force, stating, “We will use nuclear weapons if attacked. They can respond to us.” Lukashenko also mentioned that in such a scenario, an attack against Russia would also occur:
“As a result, Russia would also utilize its full arsenal. This would mean a world war. The West does not desire this. They are not ready, but we clearly state that our state borders are our red line. If they step over it, the response will be immediate. We are preparing for this. I am speaking honestly and openly about this.” PUTIN’S MESSAGE
During a recent meeting with Security Council members, Putin discussed updating the foundations of state policy in the field of nuclear deterrence. Putin stated that within this framework, an attack on Russia by a non-nuclear state with the participation and support of a state possessing nuclear capability will be considered a joint attack. The Russian leader asserted, “We reserve the right to use nuclear weapons in case of an attack on Russia and Belarus. The use of conventional weapons by an enemy poses a critical threat to our sovereignty.”
