Lowest Support in the Past 25 Years: Americans No Longer Trust Israel

According to a survey conducted by a research company, the American public is no longer in favor of supporting Israel. The survey results indicated the lowest level of support in the past 25 years. A survey conducted while President Donald Trump’s plan to “take over” Gaza and forcefully displace Palestinians was on the agenda revealed that American support for Israel has reached its lowest level in the past 25 years. In a survey conducted by the Gallup research company between February 3-16 with 1004 participants, it was noted that 46% of Americans supported Israel, marking the lowest level in the past 25 years. During the ceasefire and prisoner exchange process between Israel and Hamas, the survey revealed that the percentage of Americans who sympathize with Palestinians increased by 6 points compared to the previous year, reaching 33%, the highest level since 2001. The survey also recorded that 40% of Americans approve of Trump’s policies towards Palestine and Israel. Republicans, with 83%, and Democrats, with 33%, expressed positive views on Israel in the survey, while 45% of Democrats and 18% of Republicans expressed positive views on Palestine. A MAJORITY SUPPORTS THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A PALESTINIAN STATE The survey showed that 55% of Americans support a two-state solution, while 31% are against this idea. 14% of participants did not express any opinion on the matter. Finally, 76% of Democrats, 53% of independents, and 41% of Republicans expressed their support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
