List of Shameless Taxpayers Revealed

The names of taxpayers who owe taxes and penalties to the state, known as “shameless taxpayers” in the public, have been disclosed. The list includes 36,806 taxpayers. The total amount of unpaid taxes and penalties reached 914.9 billion lira. Turk Tabacco Products topped the list with a tax debt exceeding 3 billion lira. Minister of Finance Şimşek announced that 88.8% of the receivables were not collectible.

The Revenue Administration of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance published a list of taxpayers with tax and penalty debts exceeding 5 million lira.

The list included 7,948 real persons and 28,858 legal entities, totaling 36,806 taxpayers.

Minister of Finance Şimşek stated, “Out of the 36,806 taxpayers we will announce as tax debtors, 30,696 have no ability to pay their debts. 88.8% of these receivables cannot be collected.” The total amount of unpaid taxes and penalties reached 914.9 billion lira. The uncollectible receivable amount was determined as 812.8 billion lira.

4,807 taxpayers were active, representing 13.1% of the total number of taxpayers. The number of abandoned taxpayers reached 31,999.

HERE ARE THE TOP TAX DEBTORS

The Revenue Administration released two different lists related to this issue:

1- List of reassessments finalized between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024, exceeding a total of 5 million lira (Taxpayer/Tax debt)

1- Yurtpet Fuel Ltd. Co. – 1,265,539,269 TL 2- Mir Ore Mining and Metal Ltd. Co. – 740,699,196 TL 3- Ospet Petroleum – 603,831,261 TL

List of debtor taxpayers whose due amounts were not paid as of September 30, 2024, exceeding 5 million lira, although they were due on December 31, 2023

1- Turk Tabacco Products Inc. – 3,023,325,428 TL 2- International Fuel Distribution Ltd. Co. – 2,449,525,198 TL 3- Enkad Construction Metal Ltd. Co. – 2,255,026,863 TL

TWO LISTS WERE PUBLISHED

Debtor taxpayers were disclosed in two separate lists. The first list included taxes and penalties finalized due to supplementary, ex officio, or administrative assessments. The second list presented unpaid taxes and penalties that were past the due date to the public.

“NOT EVERYONE IN THE LIST IS A DEBTOR” Minister Şimşek emphasized that those listed cannot be directly labeled as “tax debtors.” He stated that the list also contained taxpayers who had deficiencies in tax declarations, did not submit any tax returns, or received wrongful tax refunds with finalized reassessments.
