A prosecutor in the US filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk, who announced that “America PAC,” a political action committee supporting Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in contested states, would award money to one person every day until the election, claiming that he had organized an “illegal raffle.” Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner stated, “America PAC and Musk are deceiving Philadelphia residents into providing their personal information and making political commitments in exchange for a chance to win $1 million.”
The hearing regarding Krasner’s request for a preliminary injunction will be held on November 1.
ONE MILLION DOLLARS EVERY DAY America PAC is giving $1 million every day to one person who applies from among registered voters in contested states as part of its plan to increase support for Trump. According to CNN, the Department of Justice warned America PAC in a letter that these gifts could violate federal laws. The petition is in a gray area of election law, and legal experts are divided on whether Musk’s payment to people for voting violates prohibitions.
