Lebanon Focus: Iranian Foreign Minister Arakchi Meets with Syrian Leader Assad

Following his visit to Beirut, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi traveled to Damascus and held talks with Syrian leader Bashar Assad. The discussion revolved around halting Israel’s aggression towards Lebanon and providing political support and aid to the Lebanese people. Arakchi, who had visited the besieged Beirut under Israeli attacks yesterday, arrived in Damascus today with his delegation. In Damascus, he met with his Syrian counterpart Bessam Sabbah and Prime Minister Mohammed Gazi el-Jalali before being received by President Assad. Reports indicate that during the meetings, officials from both countries exchanged views on various regional and international issues. It was reported that Arakchi and Assad discussed mutual relations between the two countries and the current situation in the region. According to the Syrian state news agency SANA, the talks also involved consultations on ways to halt Israel’s aggression towards Lebanon and provide political support and aid to the Lebanese people. Yesterday, Iranian Foreign Minister Arakchi had meetings with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri in Beirut under Israeli attacks.
