The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it has lodged a complaint against Israel with the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for ongoing attacks on the country’s towns and municipalities. The immediate withdrawal of the Israeli army from Lebanese territory, which they entered by land, was requested.
In a written statement from the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was noted that Israel’s attacks on the country have once again been brought to the attention of the UNSC. The statement condemned Israel for violating the country’s sovereignty by land, sea, and air, continuing to target health centers, and arbitrarily bombing civilian residential areas in the capital Beirut and other regions. It was highlighted that in Israel’s attacks on Lebanon, water reservoirs, border crossings, and historical structures were targeted, with systematic assassination attacks continuing by bombing towns and municipalities without regard for civilian casualties.
“ISRAEL’S ATTACKS ARE UNJUSTIFIED” The statement from the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs included the following remarks: “Israel is imposing its security vision on the region through force and military attacks against the sovereignty of regional countries and peoples. There is no evidence to support Israel’s justifications for its aforementioned attacks on self-defense.” The UNSC was urged to stop Israel’s wide-scale attacks on the Lebanese people and territories, and Tel Aviv was called upon to abide by UNSC Resolution 1701 and immediately cease its attacks.
DEMAND FOR ISRAELI ARMY WITHDRAWAL FROM LEBANON The immediate withdrawal of the Israeli army from Lebanese territories, which they entered by land, was demanded. The statement also expressed confidence in the role of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in ensuring security in the country for the Lebanese army.
