The Spokesperson of the Kremlin, Dmitriy Peskov, stated that the tariff policies of the US are causing significant turbulence in the world economy, mentioning that the likelihood of this process benefiting Russia is low. Peskov addressed journalists in the capital Moscow, emphasizing that the global economy is experiencing “turbulence” due to the tariff policies of the US and expressing doubt about the benefits of these tariffs to Russia. While referring to an important visit by Kiril Dmitriev, the Special Representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin for international economic cooperation to the US, Peskov mentioned that details about offering guarantees in negotiations with Ukraine would not be shared at this stage. Evaluating the US’s escalating rhetoric towards Iran, Peskov stated, “We are currently trying to restore our relations with the US, yet Iran is our partner and ally with deep ties.” Regarding the numerous tariffs announced by the US towards many countries, Peskov noted that Russia is not among the countries affected as it does not have trade relations with the US. Explaining that the world is facing turbulence due to tariffs, Peskov commented, “The likelihood of US tariffs benefiting Russia is low. The global economy is reacting very emotionally to these decisions. We are witnessing a high level of turbulence in international markets, and of course, the world economy is currently in chaos.” Highlighting the strength and resilience of the Russian economy, Peskov remarked, “Nevertheless, due to the turbulence currently experienced in the global economy, additional efforts will be needed.”
