Vice President Kamala Harris commented on the death of Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah following an Israeli bombing. Harris stated, “Hasan Nasrallah was a terrorist with American blood on his hands. For decades, he destabilized the Middle East by leading Hezbollah and causing the deaths of countless innocent people in Lebanon, Israel, Syria, and around the world. Today, Hezbollah victims have somewhat found justice.” Harris reiterated the United States’ unwavering commitment to Israel’s security, saying, “I will always support Israel’s right to defend itself against Iran and Iran-backed terrorist groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.”
Harris emphasized that they do not want conflicts in the Middle East to escalate into a broader regional war, stating, “We are working on a diplomatic solution along the Israel-Lebanon border so that people on both sides can safely return to their homes. Diplomacy continues to be the best way to protect civilians and ensure lasting stability in the region.”
