Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant’s visit to the US has been postponed to a later date. According to the Israeli press, Prime Minister Netanyahu does not want Gallant to go to America before he meets with US President Joe Biden.
The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced that Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant’s visit to the US has been postponed to a future date.
As part of his visit, Gallant was scheduled to meet with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
According to reports in the Israeli press, Netanyahu discussed Gallant’s planned one-day visit to the US during their meeting. Netanyahu expressed his desire to speak with US President Joe Biden on the phone beforehand and communicated his opposition to Gallant traveling to the US without this meeting. Additionally, Netanyahu asked Gallant to depart for the US after approving Israel’s Security Cabinet’s response to Iran. Gallant was set to fly to Washington this evening for a one-day visit to discuss the response to Iran’s missile attack and meet with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin tomorrow. It is indicated that there may be a delay in Gallant’s departure to the US in line with Netanyahu’s request.
