The Israeli strikes hit a densely populated area in central Beirut with apartments and small shops.
Lebanese officials announced that 22 people were killed and 117 people were injured in the attacks.
According to three security sources, Israel targeted a high-ranking Hezbollah official in the capital’s attack.
Security sources reported that Wafiq Safa, who heads the liaison and coordination unit of Hezbollah responsible for working with Lebanese security institutions, survived the Israeli attack.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health stated that among those who lost their lives in the attack was a family of eight, including three children evacuated from the south.
Yesterday, the Lebanese government reported that Israel’s attacks resulted in the deaths of at least 2,169 people in Lebanon over the past year.
Most of the deaths have occurred since Israel expanded its military operations on September 23.
On the other hand, Lebanon’s Hezbollah continues to retaliate against Israel’s deadly attacks.
According to Israel’s Channel 12, more than 20 rockets were launched from Lebanon into northern Israel today, and sirens continued to sound.
As reported by Israel’s Channel 14, an Israeli was killed and another was seriously injured in the Yar’on village in Upper Galilee after a tank missile was fired from Lebanon.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper shared information on the latest situation in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army has designated Gaza as a “secondary theater of war” for the first time since October 2023, and an “military operation” in Jibaliye could last for months.
Israel did not issue an evacuation warning before the attacks.
This area, far from the southern suburbs of Beirut, was attacked for the first time.
Ala’a Baydoun, a resident whose house was damaged, told Reuters news agency the following about the attack:
“I was praying. We heard the first attack and thought it was aimed at our home. The second one was much more powerful than the first. I went to see where the attack was and saw that my windows and panes were broken. We came and saw this scene. It was a horrific sight, something unbelievable.”Lebanese officials and Hezbollah have approved a ceasefire to end the conflict, but Israel’s aggression is hindering diplomatic efforts.
Lebanon’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Hadi Hachem, stated in a briefing to the UN Security Council that the only way to end this war and aggression is through diplomatic solutions and adherence to international decisions, international law, and international humanitarian law.
