Israeli Media Reports: Israel Will Need to Adapt to Turkey’s Influence in Syria

The Israeli media published an analysis on Turkey’s influence in Syria, stating that “Israel has few options beyond insisting on its red lines.”

The Israeli media released an evaluation on Turkey’s influence in Syria.

An article in the Times of Israel used the headline “Israel Will Need to Adapt to Turkey’s Growing Footprint in Syria.”

The analysis highlighted the need for a strong country to help Syria emerge from chaos post the fall of the toppled leader Bashar al-Assad, stating that “Turkey wants to be involved in this, and while America supports Erdogan, Israel has few options beyond insisting on its red lines.”

The article mentioned a peak in Turkey-Israel relations following a series of airstrikes targeting three Syrian air bases in early April, with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stating, “Turkey has no intention of engaging in war with any country on Syrian soil.”

Despite increasing concerns in Israel over Turkey’s influence in Syria, the article noted that Israel has limited options to counter this.

“TRUMP’S SUPPORT CONSTRAINS ISRAEL”

Gallia Lindenstrauss, a senior research fellow at the National Security Studies Institute (INSS), expressed in the analysis that “When it comes to Syria, Turkey prioritizes and invests more than Israel. Israel’s interest in Syria is solely security-focused, giving Ankara an advantage.”

Lindenstrauss added that U.S. President Donald Trump’s support for Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan further restricts Israel’s maneuverability.
