After the intensification of Israeli attacks, the United States had called for a 21-day ceasefire in Lebanon.
White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby said in a statement last week that they are continuing to work towards securing a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. Kirby reported that the US, France, and 10 other countries along with the European Union had jointly called for a ceasefire.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu initially rejected the temporary ceasefire calls but later softened his stance.
Netanyahu stated that talks with US officials were ongoing.
