The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that one person was killed and three others were injured in an Israeli drone airstrike on a vehicle in the southern part of the country.
The Israeli army conducted an airstrike on a vehicle in southern Lebanon where the ceasefire, aimed at ending clashes and mutual attacks with Hezbollah, is in effect. One person lost their life in the attack, with three individuals wounded, one of whom is a child. The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights reported that since the ceasefire came into effect on November 27, 2024, at least 71 civilians have been killed by Israeli soldiers in Lebanon. The Lebanese Ministry of Health revealed in a written statement regarding the airstrike in southern Lebanon that the Israeli army carried out a drone attack with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on Aytarun village located in the Nebatiye district. The statement confirmed that one person died and three individuals, including a child, were injured in the attack targeting a light commercial vehicle. According to a report by the Lebanese state news agency NNA, three laser-guided missiles were launched from Israeli UAVs towards Aytarun village. It was mentioned that a light commercial vehicle was hit and the Israeli army fired towards Meys el-Cebel village in the Nebatiye district to intimidate the residents. The UN: ISRAEL KILLED AT LEAST 71 CIVILIANS SINCE CEASEFIRE The UN Human Rights High Commissioner’s Spokesperson, Thameen Al-Kheetan, made remarks about the situation in Lebanon during the weekly press conference at the UN Geneva Office. Al-Kheetan expressed concerns that Israel’s attacks in Lebanon continue to kill, injure civilians, and damage civilian infrastructure. He stated that this situation raises worries about the protection of civilians. Al-Kheetan said, “At least 71 civilians were killed by Israeli soldiers since the ceasefire came into effect on November 27, 2024.” “VIOLENCE MUST CEASE IMMEDIATELY” Pointing out that among the casualties are 14 women and nine children, Al-Kheetan emphasized that people are living in fear and more than 92,000 individuals still cannot return to their homes. Al-Kheetan stressed the immediate need to halt violence, stating that “All parties to the conflict must respect international humanitarian law, including the principles of discrimination, proportionality, and precaution. Immediate, independent, and impartial investigations should be conducted on all allegations of serious violations of international humanitarian law, and those responsible must be held accountable.”
