Israel Targets School in Gaza Again: 22 People Killed, Including 15 Women and Children

2 Mins Read

At least 22 people, including 15 women and children, lost their lives and 80 others were wounded in an Israeli attack on a school that housed displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. In a written statement from the Media Office of the government in Gaza, it was stated that “Israel carried out a new massacre at Mufti School, where thousands of displaced Palestinians stay in Nusayrat Refugee Camp in the central part of the Gaza Strip.” The statement reported that at least 22 civilians, including 15 women and children, were killed and 80 were injured as a result of Israel’s attack on Mufti School, noting that “the occupier knowingly targeted the school where thousands of women and children forced to leave their homes were located. This school was bombed even though it was not designated as a war zone by the occupier.” The statement also reminded that with the attack on Mufti School, the number of attacks Israel has carried out on shelters has reached 191. The attack on the school used as a shelter was strongly condemned in the statement, which also called on the international community to stop Israel’s ongoing attacks on displaced civilians. A medical source from Al Awde Hospital in Gaza had previously informed an AA reporter that 18 people had lost their lives in the attack on the school by Israel, and many injured, including children and women, were brought to the hospital. Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip have resulted in the deaths of 42,227 Palestinians, including approximately 17,000 children and 11,378 women, and 98,464 people have been injured. While reports indicate that thousands are still under the rubble, civilian infrastructure is being destroyed by targeting hospitals and educational institutions where people seek shelter.
